ILS Training: Local Housing Planning
Each local city has plans to improve housing for people in their communities. The Consolidated Plans and Public Housing Agency Plans describe in detail how the city will use certain federal funds to improve housing for people with low incomes. It is important that the cities hear from people with disabilities about what housing needs they have. This could include more affordable housing, accessible housing, assistance to find affordable housing, and other obstacles people with disabilities have when trying to locate or maintain housing.
Over the next four months, the Endependence Center will have a series of trainings and discussions about the housing planning processes and how you can be involved. Your voice is important. You have the opportunity to improve housing. Please participate in these discussions. The first training will be Wednesday, November 6, 2:00pm – 3:30pm at the Endependence Center. Come and join together to advocate for housing.
