April 21: Special Election

A special election has been called statewide for a proposed constitutional amendment:

Proposed Constitutional Amendment Question: Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia’s standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?

Important dates to know:

  • Register to Vote/Update Registration: April 14
  • Early In-Person Voting: March 6 – April 18
  • Apply for Mail-In Ballot: April 10

Primary elections have been called to nominate candidates for this November’s midterm elections (House of Representatives and US Senate). 

Important dates to know:

  • Register to Vote/Update Registration: 7/24/2026
  • Early in-person voting: 6/18/2026 through 8/1/2026
  • Apply for ballot to be mailed to you: through 7/24/2026

November 3: General Election

This year’s general election covers the US House of Representatives and US Senate). 

Important dates to know:

  • Register to Vote/Update Registration: 10/23/2026
  • Early in-person voting: 9/18/2026 through 10/31/2026
  • Apply for ballot to be mailed to you: through 10/23/2026

Deadlines & Related Events

The early voting period is Friday, September 19 to Saturday, November 1. Registrar offices and satellite voting locations will be open on Saturday, October 25 and Saturday, November 1. Check with your local registrar for satellite locations and hours.

Friday, October 24 is the deadline to register to vote or update your voter registration. In Virginia, voters can register and vote in-person after October 24 using a provisional ballot. The deadline to apply for a ballot to be mailed to you is 5:00pm on Friday, October 24.
